Mr. Sunder Pichai and his delegation of Google Inc during their recent vist to India focussed entirely on various aspects of development in India from technology point of view and carried out many beneficial resolutions by Google that can help India achieve the place it deserves when it comes to technology. The major concern all through the visit and various concerns and meetings happened to be finding out ways to make internet available for all the people in the country and making people use the internet services in a better way and with high speeds and large topographical availability.
The major areas of focus were:
GOOGLE DEVELOPERS AGENCY PROGRAMME:
As per this program the developers team at google aims at providing trainig to budding developers and startups to build better applications to provide better UI and UX. After that Google aims at organising various events for developers for providing them special guidelines and trainings on android platform and providing the developers with easy access to Google tools for the same. In this way the start-ups in the country can get maximum exposure for their applications across the globe through the support of Google and hence improving their credibility and making them be well known and their applications be globally used and acclaimed.
MAKING INTERNET SERVICES AVAILABLE ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY:
Earlier day Mr. Sunder Pichai made many promising announcements regarding the facilitation of better internet services in India by the means of many initiatives such as “PROJECT SATHI” and setting up more than 100 free WiFi zones across the railway stations in the country and providing free internet services in trains on major railway routes for example DELHI-MUMBAI and many others in future. The third and the most important announcement was the proposal of project loon in India which is providing internet services in many countries by the means of giant balloons in the stratospheric layer providing WiFi services to the people in the area.
OPPORTUNITY FOR GROWTH AND CHALLENGES IN THE PATH:
There is a large scope of growth and development in the nation within the coming time but there are certain challenges that are hindering the progress:
Connectivity speeds: Internet connectivity in India is alarmingly poor when compared to other IT markets in the world. This is causing unavailability of good internet to a bigger mass in the country. Most of current broadband service are not much encouraging and fail to full-fill the requirements of the developers and the users.
Data Cost: Secondly the data availing costs in the country is considerably high, thus curtailing liberty of users to use internet with a free mind. Google has all plans to collaborate with Indian telecom companies so as to provide net facility to users across the country on reasonable rates.
