Aim to comply – Facebook is ready to welcome new IT rules

Facebook IT Rules: Facebook on Tuesday said it planning to implement the demands of the government and aims to comply with the rules drafted by the IT department. The social media giant said it keeps on pushing the issues in the general public which need greater commitment with the public authority.

The comments by Facebook are proving to be of much significance as the deadline for complying with the new rules was the 25th of May

The new guidelines were initially disclosed in February which enforces social-media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to follow extra caution, including the appointment of a chief compliance officer, nodal contact person, and resident grievance officer.

IT Ministry sources said that arrangement of a complaint official would be a critical prerequisite from the very first moment of rules becoming effective, given the significance of public interface for protests, and the need for an affirmation framework for demands.

In an explanation on Tuesday, a Facebook representative said: We mean to consent to the Facebook IT Rules and keep on examining a couple of the issues which need greater commitment with the public authority. 

Facebook stays resolved to individuals’ capacity to securely put themselves out their voices out on the platform, the representative added.

Amongst the various arrangements, Provisions around voluntary verification, removal of content related to nudity in under 24-hours are already in place and other requirements like generation of compliance reports, the appointment of nodal and resident grievance officers are still underway.

On February 25, the govt had revamped stricter guidelines for social media platforms firms, expecting them to eliminate any content hailed improperly by Govt.

The three-month time span implied compliance by May 25.

A week ago, Koo had said it has agreed with the prerequisites of the new principles and its Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and Community Guidelines presently mirror the changes. Koo has near 6 million (60 lakh) clients, making it a significant online media go-between under the new rules.
