Twitter Updates 2020: On 11th august, twitter announced its new feature to limit replies on tweets. This feature is available for all android and ios users as well as for twitter.com Users will be able to use this feature by tapping on the globe button below their tweet writing one.
This will allow the users to limit the replies only to the people they follow or the people they have tagged in the tweet. The default setting is to let everyone reply and it will turn grey when users decide to not let anyone reply.
Twitter Updates 2020 – Other users could still view, like, retweet, or retweet and comment on the original tweet. This feature was reportedly first tested in May. Suzanne Xie, director of product management said, “Sometimes people are more comfortable talking about what’s happening when they can choose who can reply.
We’ve seen people use these settings to have conversations that weren’t possible before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use these settings so unwanted replies don’t get in the way of meaningful conversations.”
She also added how people were able to have more meaningful conversations when they are in control of who can reply to the tweet.
This feature would also help in controlling the noise on the platform. 60% of users who optimized this feature was not muting or blocking other users.
Twitter always thrives to improve the platform against abusive, discriminatory, or content that passes fake news. This concept for limiting replies was first talked about in January at CES by Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter’s VP of Product.
“We want to build on the theme of authors getting more control and we’ve thought … that there are many analogs of how people have communications in life,” he said.
