Google shows support to the app developers | Cuts the fee to 15%

Google Play App Developers: Google made a big modification to its android market strategy in a blog article, announcing that it would halve its Play fees for developers who offer in-app digital products and services worldwide.

This move will take place on July 1st. This year, Apple implemented a related policy update and Google’s action also seems like a competitive decision.

According to the company's blog post, the subscription charge Google Play charges anytime a developer sells digital products or services will be reduced from 30% to 15% over the first $1 million in sales each developer makes each year.

According to Google's numbers, this will save "50 percent in fees" for 99 percent of developers who sell products and services on the Play Store.

The explanation for selecting $1 million as a threshold, according to the firm, is that it has spoken with “partners earning $2 million, $5 million, and even $10 million a year who say their services are already on a road to self-sustaining orbit.”

The organization claims that by lowering the prices, “developers will be able to scale up at a crucial point of their development by recruiting more programmers, growing their marketing team, increasing cloud power, and more.”

Impact on Developers - Google Play App Developers

As per the enterprise, this move would not affect 97 percent of applications on the Play Store because they do not offer digital products or services and are not expected to pay a subscription charge.

Developers in India who market digital products but haven't yet integrated the Google Play billing scheme into their applications will have until March 31, 2022, to do so.

Google Play App Developers, Apple announced in November 2020 that it would reduce the net profit fee for all developers earning less than $1 million per year to 15%.

Both Google and Apple have taken various approaches to reduce sales. When developers earn more than $1 million in sales, Apple will take 30% of the revenue, while Google will only take 30% of the revenue received above $1 million a year.
