Hoping for a bounce-back when the app returns - Tiktok's head

TikTok's head: After the announcement of the official comeback of the PUBGM to India with its new version catered for users in the country, many are now anticipating the return of another savvy app - TikTok. TikTok had a huge user base in India who have been desperately waiting for fo it to make a comeback.

TikTok was banned by the Government in June, along with 58 other apps including WeChat, UC Browser, and others. In its notice, the Government stated that these apps are prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the state, and public order.

The roots of the concern are the relationship of bytedance with the Chinese communist party and their opaque nature of handling the client data.

The concerns related to the same have also been raised earlier by many experts but then the situations were different hence allowing such practices. 

TikTok's head After the ban of TikTok in India, various other countries also followed. Even the USA banned TikTok, pertaining to security concerns.

All of this implicated that it is near to impossible for TikTok to return back to these countries and function as they were earlier functioning.

But to our surprise in a recent development, TikTok India head, Nikhil Gandhi, in an email to employees assured that the company is trying its level best to return back to Indian users.

TikTok’s parent company Bytedance has its employees in India handling TikTok and Helo operations. Bytedance has a huge workforce of 2000 employees in India.

Commenting about the current understanding between TikTok and the Indian government, Gandhi said, "We have demonstrated an unequivocal commitment to comply with the local laws, pertaining to data privacy and security requirements, and are therefore optimistic about a positive outcome. Our clarifications have been submitted to the Government and we will continue to rectify any further concerns they may have."

There hasn’t been any confirmation on whether the app is making a return to the Indian markets. The company has chosen to remain silent regarding any of the official updates.

Although, shortly after the ban there were rumors of reliance taking over the Indian operations of TikTok. The same rumors were then later tied with Microsoft and even airtel taking over the Indian operations.

Although there has never been any official confirmation by the company. This is still ongoing news and we will keep you posted with the best updates.
