Nokia to collaborate with IISc to develop 5G for India

Nokia with IISc to develop 5G: On 4th August 2020, Nokia announced that it would be collaborating with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). This collaboration will lead to further research in the 5G network. Nokia plans to establish a centre of excellence (CEO) in Bengaluru. 

This centre of excellence will aim to promote robotics and artificial intelligence for social cases. This may include fields of agricultural management, emergency response service, and industrial automation management.

Nokia with IISc to develop 5G The collaboration will also increase engagement between academia, startups, and industrial ecosystem partners. “Collaboration with a global technology leader, Nokia, will go a long way in helping our students to gain knowledge and insights and make significant contributions to the development of innovative and societally relevant 5G use cases.

This is a critical initiative and it will help us move closer to finding technology-powered solutions to enrich our lives.” Professor G Rangarajan, Director, IISc, said in a statement.

“Emerging technologies such as the 5G have the potential to enable an entirely new array of use cases with a profound societal impact. With Nokia’s rich innovation heritage, we aim to engage with the bright and young minds at IISc to nurture and advance the latest technologies that can benefit communities.

We are confident that it will lead to the development of groundbreaking use cases.” said Sanjay Malik, Senior Vice President and Head of India Market, Nokia.

They plan to support the institute in the research of robot orchestration, robot network controller, and human-robot interaction. CoE aims to make the best use of drones and the 5G network to cover a huge mass of land.

This exercise will be useful for many purposes like emergency response and agricultural management such as water conservation.

IISc has also partnered with Wipro to design an autonomous car for Indian roads. Nokia also supports the Startup India movement.
