WhatsApp adds a new "search by date" function to make navigating chats easier.
The well-known messaging app WhatsApp is releasing a new feature that will make sifting through conversations easier than before.  Within a chat, the 'Search by day' tool facilitates finding messages, media, links, and documents shared on a certain day.  Through the provision of a more effective means of reviewing crucial data or interactions, this feature seeks to improve the user experience as a whole. Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, announced the feature's launch on his WhatsApp channel.  All users worldwide can now access the feature on the Android, iOS, Mac, Windows, and Web platforms.  It was first discovered during beta testing in November 2023, and now that testing went well, it is being made available to all users. Users must first access the specific individual or group conversation they want to search in order to utilize the "Search by Date" feature.  Next, on Android phones, they can select the three dots located in the upper right corner, and on iOS devices, they can tap the name of the contact or group.  Users will see a little calendar with a search sign after selecting the standard Search option.  The pop-up calendar allows users to quickly browse to messages from a specific day within the conversation by simply selecting the relevant date. For instance, a user can choose October 19, 2023, from the pop-up calendar if they would like to see a message from that date. After that, users can scroll through the chat or group and it will open directly to messages from that day. Four additional text formatting options were recently added to WhatsApp internationally, in addition to the "Search by Date" feature: bulleted points, numbered lists, block quotes, and inline quotes.  The traditional formatting options of bold, italic, strikethrough, and monospace text are enhanced by these new options. Additionally, according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing a feature that would let users send a QR Code to someone else in order to add them as a contact.  Users currently need to find their QR Code by navigating to the settings.  Users will be able to see their QR Code as a shortcut in chats with the new functionality, which will make sharing it with others simpler.
