Google Launches News Showcase: At a time, when access to trustworthy news has become more gradually critical, Google has announced a type of investment in support of India’s large and different news industry. These investments aim to help people find quality journalism and expand the tech giant’s programs under the Google News Initiative - allowing newsrooms to engage their readers in new ways during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. Google Launches News Showcase, On Tuesday, Google launched its News Showcase product in India with 30 news publishers, including national, regional, and local news organizations. These include Indian Express Group, Zee News, India TV, The Telegraph India, NDTV, Indo Asian News Service, ANI, Amar Ujala, and many more. The primary purpose of launching this news showcase product is to help publishers share their expertise and editorial voice while letting readers dive deeper into more complicated stories in India. Last year, Google announced a billion-dollar global investment for supporting quality journalism and the news showcase is its part. “Tuesday’s announcement was beneficial for Indians looking for authoritative news and information as the COVID-19 pandemic grows,” said Brad Bender, Vice President, Product, News, Google.  He added, “We are launching a new online and licensing program for both news publishers and readers. This News Showcase product also helps news partnering publishers to create high-quality content on Google News Showcase, connecting readers with relevant news”. The company said in a statement, “As part of the licensing agreements with partnering news organizations, Google is also paying publishers to give readers access to a limited amount of paywalled content and information. This means readers have the opportunity to read more articles from publishers while making strong readers’ relationships with news publishers and encouraging them to subscribe”. Undoubtedly, Indian news organizations and journalists are using technology to engage with the reader and make data-driven decisions to improve their business efforts. In this case, Sanjay Gupta, Vice President, Google India, Said, “We believe that the contribution of digital platforms in a sustainable, independent and diverse news industry is essential”. “News Showcase is just one part of our commitment to the largest India news industry. That day, he also announced the growth of Google News Initiative efforts to support journalist training efforts. And new programs to support over 800 small and medium-sized publications get financial sustainability with training in creating an audience and innovating products that are essential for a news organization to get success in a competitive market,” he added. Overall, 30 Indian news publishers have now joined 700 news publications globally and have partnered with Google News Showcase in countries including Germany, Brazil, Japan, U.K., Italy, Australia, and many more. More than 90% of partnering news organizations around the world represent local, regional, or community news. Read More: GOOGLE ASSISTANT CAN NOW BE TAUGHT TO PRONOUNCE CONTACT NAMES PROPERLY
